Al-Anon for Sober in the Sun 2012 Our Welcome to You
Welcome to the Sober in the Sun 2012 Al-Anon Web-page! We are so glad you are interested in our Al-Anon Program for the Sober in the Sun 2012 Conference.
Sober in the Sun, INC. has been providing a safe and sober environment for gay men, lesbians and others recovering from the devastating effects of alcoholism, drug addiction and problems related to recovery from these diseases, for the past twenty-four years.
Eleven years ago, the Sober in the Sun Board of Directors and Planning Committee decided to extend this support and love for recovery to the families, friends, partners, parents, children and grandparents of alcoholics. We in Al-Anon believe that alcoholism is a family and societal illness that affects everyone who has direct contact with an alcoholic.
Everyone who is affected by the disease of alcoholism is warmly invited to attend our conference. We extend this invitation to you so that you can experience the strength and hope we who are recovering from the effects of the disease of alcoholism can provide.
Al-Anon is not allied with any sect, denomination, political entities, organizations or institutions; does not engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes.
Al-Anon has but one purpose: to help families and friends of alcoholics. We do this by practicing the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous ourselves, by encouraging and understanding our alcoholic relatives and friends, and by welcoming and giving comfort to the relatives and friends of alcoholics.
The Al-Anon Committee for Sober in the Sun 2012 will be providing various panels made up of Al-Anon and, where appropriate, AA members who are working the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous themselves. The Panels will focus on understanding how we have been effected by the disease of alcoholism as partners, spouses, parents, children and grandparents and to the share the solutions we have found by living the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous ourselves in all our affairs.
All panels and workshops at the Sober in the Sun 2012 Conference are constituted as "open meetings". This is a rare and wonderful opportunity to learn and grow in our awareness of the disease of alcoholism and the spiritual solution that works for us all.
Please check back for future announcements on the specific topics and times slated for the Al-Anon Program at the Sober in the Sun 2012 Conference. We hope to make this an exciting and enriching experience for all who attend.
